Trying Something New for the New Year...

This is something I have been thinking about doing for a long time now and have decided that I'm going to give this a shot and hope I can keep up with it . I'm no writer, that is for sure. Time passes so quickly, and seems I'm always wishing I would have or could have written something down or kept track of things a little better. Well, we will see if I can put my thoughts & wishes into action. It has been quite cold here the past week. Tonight it is a little warmer than it has been, it is -21 below now. Last night we went to the annual bus driver's Christmas supper, it was at Cafe 89. The menu was Chicken, BBQ ribs, and Lutefisk. Hands down, I had the lutefisk, was really good too, a real treat. Something I usually don't fix, because I'm the only one in the family that eats it. Was good to get to visit with the bunch again. It has been 2 years now since I fell and broke my leg, while we were building on to our cabin in the woods. That was the end of my bus driving career. As I am not able to drive anymore due to the nerve damage in my leg, It is like it is sleeping all the time. So can understand why it would not be a good thing for me to be transporting kids to and from school anymore. All it would take is one mishap, and that would be the first thing they would think of to be the fault. I certainly would not want to be at fault of causing harm to anyone over that.
Today we were expecting grandkids to come out and ride snowcat, So I made a big pan of cinnamon rolls and a couple pans of buns. No kids showed up, guess they have colds and weren't feeling too good. So stayed home, probably best as this was the last day of holiday vacation, school starts again tomorrow. So better they get feeling well for that.
My husband brought in a couple totes of his father's old clothes. I started a project that I have had on my list for quite some time. I'm going to make teddy bears out of Grandpa's old heavy wool/flannel shirts for all the grandkids and great grandkids. I took all the buttons off, and got them all washed up. Have a pattern that I ordered from Australia for a teddy bear, so will start cutting tomorrow. I need about 30 bears, so will have my work cut out for me for a while. This way each of the grandkids and great grandkids will have a little piece of Grandpa Ed. I don't hardly ever remember him without one of those heavy shirts on. He wore them year round, didn't matter, summer or winter. He also wore his long johns all year round too.. Was quite a guy, that Grandpa. I couldn't have asked for a better father-in-law. I loved him dearly. He was a man of few words, when he said something it was worth listening too, what he said usually had great meaning. He passed away just a few weeks before he was to turn 100 years old. He is greatly missed by many.
Our son and his three kids were out yesterday and spent the afternoon with us. We played cards, "Golf" That sure helped pass the cold winter afternoon...
New Years Eve we went to our niece, Ashley's for supper, played some cards and came home around 10:00 it was -35 below that night.
New Years Day Wayne & I took down the Christmas tree and all the decorations, Uffda but that gets to be an auful job. Nice to have it all decorated but, nice to get it all down and put away again too. Not quite so cluttered feeling. Well, I think this is enough of this jibber jabber for now. Until next time - Nite - Nite-
