Nash's First Birthday

WOW, the past 3 days I've been so blessed, as I've gotten to spend them with some of my most favorite people….  Friday, I rode with Kodie, Nash and Hunter to Thief River Falls, was a very stormy day, cold and windy and drifting snow across the roads so hard to see. But, that was all on the back burner, as I got to spend it with 3 of my favorites…. We had a very special time for sure… Did a little shopping  while Kodie went to get her hair done so got to have a great time with Hunter & Nash. That Nash is a bundle of FUN, for sure…  The roads were getting quite bad on the trip home, but Kodie did a good job getting us through the drifts and keeping us on the road…. Sure glad and thankful I'm not driving bus anymore, especially when we have days like this…
Saturday was the annual Hayes Lake Fishing Tournament, Wayne, Darby, Jerome & Garrett went from here on snowmobiles. It's was another very windy & drifting day.  I rode with Shelly & Kayla into Roseau, we did a little shopping and then met up with Jodi, Alison, Teagan and Kaiden at the Guest House for lunch.  Ashley & Nano left today for a 5 day stay in Vegas, so Teagan is staying with Jodi.  After lunch we all came out to our place,  I made some sloppy joes for supper when the guys came back from fishing. They had a great day as well, but hadn't been lucky at catching fish or winning prizes. Wayne's snocat broke down so Shelly & Alison had to go to the rescue.  I am concerned for Jerome, he really looked shot when they got back, Darby looked pretty pooped too, but he is young and is just getting over a cold so am thinking that is his reason. But am concerned for Jerome, as I don't think he has looked well or been feeling himself for quite some time… Hope it is all in my head… Was sure good…
Now this is telling on myself, but I do have to admit, it is funny… Some of the things that come with "Old Age"… As I was preparing to wrap Nash's birthday present, I went into the spare bedroom, grabbed the roll of wrapping paper and clothing I'ld bought for him, but somehow I was missing a roll of wrapping paper, I knew I had bought 2 rolls as was wanting to make sure I had enough to wrap the rocking horse we had for him.  I looked high and low for that second roll of paper, in the closet, even under the bed, with no luck… Finally I gave up and went into the living room to wrap, in hopes that the one roll would be enough. When I laid the items on the coffee table, low and behold there were 2 rolls of wrapping paper, I had both rolls in my arms all the while… Oh, the "signs of the times"… It's a good thing we can laugh at ourselves, sometimes, or we would be crying alone…  We went to church at Rose and then over to Mom's for dinner and birthday cake to celebrate my sister, Lori's 50th birthday. She is the youngest of us 4 girls, it's hard to believe she is 50 years old…

In the afternoon we were invited over to our granddaughter, Kodie and Siah's for our great grandson's 1st birthday party. It was a good time, so much fun to watch the "little man" have is own birthday cake and also open his gifts. He already has that down pat, and knows what opening gifts is all about, and that they are his… We bought him a rocking horse last summer at an auction sale, I fixed it up a bit by putting a new tail, mane and halter on it. Also crocheted him a cowboy hat, he was pretty happy with the horse, but didn't think too much of the hat, it would come off just about as fast as anyone could put it on him.  Kodie & Siah live in an apt. so a pretty small living room and kitchen,  they did pretty good to put on a party of this size in such a little space. There were at least 26 people there, I would've been a nervous wreck, but Kodie seemed to take it in stride, although she did have a lot of helpers, Melanie helped he out alot with the serving of the lunch and all.. It was a very good day. But, as usual it is good to be home… Bedtime comes early...
